People are using a lot of online language translation apps. Do the benefits of this outweigh the disadvantages?

Foreign languages are considered a trend these days, scribbles and writings of a foreign dialect makes people curious to know what it means, hence making the use of translators. Merits and disadvantages to people using these applications depend on what they use it for.

Followers of trend, most of now just love to be trendy or stick to whatever that is popular at the time. Ever since the uprising of North East entertainment the popularity of languages like Japanese, Korean and Arabic rose to a certain level that it is fashionable to use them among people. As a result, the usage of translator apps spurred high and people started learning basic words and sentences to greet a person, just to provoke another person's interest.

But the story of a learner is not the same when he depends on a translator to learn the language. As the exposure of the different dialect intensifies, he would find it very difficult to cope because of the over dependence on a device. Making complex conversations between people also becomes extremely hard as it would take him time to respond to what a person says. A friend of mine who left for Japan recently said it was too hard for him to make friends because his peers would always play around and tease him as he typed everything they said word by word.

To sum up, I wish to point out the fact that the use of translating applications is truly at an upper hand to people who want to stay fashionable, the demerits won't affect them as the trend dies down after a certain period. But these apps are a disaster to those who depend on them to learn or make a conversation with someone who is a native speaker of the foreign language.
